My name is Rita Wright and I feel honored to have the opportunity to teach your child this year! I truly love first grade because it is a year of substantial growth both academically and socially. I look forward to working with second graders as well, as I teach a 1st/2nd grade combination class!
Let me tell you some information about myself! I grew up in the Seattle area with my parents and my brother, Ryan. I attended a private Christian school for the majority of my elementary school years. In 1998, I married my husband Brian and then began my studies at Western Washington University. I received my Bachelor of Art's degree at Western with a double major in Elementary and Special Education. During the 2002-2003 school year, I taught first grade in Everett, Washington and found out how truly rewarding it is to teach first graders. My husband and I moved to Coeur d'Alene during the summer of 2003. It was very hard for me to leave my job in Everett because I longed to continue teaching first grade and I was not sure if I would secure another position. Needless to say, I was thrilled when I was hired to teach first grade at Ponderosa for the 2003-2004 school year. I plan to be here for years to come! In April of 2007, I finished up my Masters Degree program at Gonzaga University with an emphasis in literacy (reading/writing instruction).
My interests include teaching (of course), the ocean, writing, computers, spending time with my husband, and playing with my two cats, Sadie and Missy. I am expecting a baby boy in February!
